Schubach Aviation’s 20th Anniversary Party

Community business leaders, non-profit organization executives, long-time clients, aircraft owners and other associates gathered recently at Palomar Airport to join with Henry Schubach, president and founder of Schubach Aviation, in celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary.

Co-hosted by Riviera magazine, the event was staged at Schubach Aviation’s 40,000-square-foot hangar, which was transformed into an upscale space complete with an elaborate white bar as the centerpiece, surrounded by modern lounge areas. Approximately 220 guests attended the elegant reception.

“It meant the world to us, and me personally, to have our long-time clients and friends there to commemorate our 20th anniversary milestone,” said Schubach.  “We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.  Today we’re in a good position to further expand our fleet and range of charter services, and we look forward to serving both old and new clients in the years to come.”

Guests were invited to board several luxury aircraft surrounding the event site, including a Gulfstream IV-SP, Hawker 800XP, and a Citation II.  A slick, black Lamborghini, Bentley GTC, Bentley Mulsanne, and a Rolls Royce Ghost were on view, courtesy of Symbolic Motors.

Snake Oil provided specialty cocktails and other beverages.  Campine Catering provided elegant tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. Cupcakes Squared was the dessert caterer.  EuroBar hosted an espresso bar featuring organic coffee, cappuccino and espresso.  Mark Lessman, who regularly entertains at Mille Fleur Restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe, was the featured saxophone jazz musician.

The highlight of the evening was a surprise 12-minute video, featuring interviews of Schubach Aviation’s friends and clients who expressed their congratulations and gratitude to Henry Schubach and his employees for their outstanding service throughout the company’s 20 years.  Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center, and Charger football star Quentin Jammer, president of the Jammer Family Foundation, thanked Schubach for his company’s generous monetary and volunteer contributions and its ongoing support of the San Diego community.

Most heartwarming was an account of one client who, with the help of Schubach, was able to travel quickly from the East Coast upon news of his mother’s grave illness so he could be with his mom during her final hours.  Another customer relayed how Schubach had enabled him and his team to fly aid into New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and help with the rescue efforts there.

As one client put it, “Congratulations from one old Air Force pilot to another, who I taught to fly,” joked Bill Gershen, CEO/President of Vanguard Industries and a Rancho Santa Fe resident. “All kidding aside, I want to thank you, Henry, for the many years of very safe and efficient travel.  I commend you on your 20 years of excellent service.”

Last August, Schubach Aviation moved to its new 45,000-square-foot headquarters at Palomar Airport so that it could accommodate larger aircraft and anticipated growth.  Currently sales are 15% higher this year over the same time last year. Its fleet of private aircraft includes a newly added G-IV SP, two wide-bodied Bombardier Challenger 601s, a Hawker 800XP, a Citation II, CJ1 and a factory-new CJ3. The company plans to add two new aircraft within the next month.

A unique service we provide that you may not know about.

HAZMAT stands for Hazardous Material, and generally speaking it’s wise to keep yourself away from it. However, there are times when such a material, chemical or biological item requires transportation by air.  If you or your company are in the business of handling Hazardous Material, you know how hard it is to find an aviation company that can provide legal transportation for it.  Since 2008, Schubach Aviation has been approved by the FAA for  “recognition and carriage of hazardous materials”.   We worked with the FAA to designate aircraft from our fleet for this purpose, and train pilots to meet the standards to transport it safely to destinations all over the world.  There are only a handful of charter operators in the country with this approval.   Sometimes letting people know what you can offer is a way to build business relationships that you never had.

With the diversity of San Diego’s business and emerging presence in the biotech industry, we are aware of the need that local companies may have in transporting time sensitive HAZMAT shipments that require a charter operator to have FAA approval to transport it.  We can and do provide this service in ways that UPS or FedEx cannot.  Please contact me directly if your business could benefit from this service offered by Schubach Aviation.   I look forward to speaking with you!

Schubach Adds Hawker 800XP to Fleet

Schubach Aviation has augmented its fleet of corporate, luxury aircraft with a newly acquired Hawker 800XP, announced Henry Schubach, president.

The Hawker 800XP is best suited for transcontinental trips to the East Coast, Canada or Mexico, or for passengers wanting spacious cabin room for shorter-range trips. The aircraft is equipped with Hawker factory winglets. Besides looking slick, the winglets increase lift and aircraft performance, resulting in extended range and efficient high speed cruise at high altitude.

Featuring the largest cabin in the mid-size jet category, the Hawker 800XP can accommodate up to eight passengers. Amenities include leather seats, an enclosed lavatory, entertainment center, flight phone, and galley with refreshment center and mini-bar. A DVD and video console with forward and aft airshow screens provide up-to-the-minute flight progress to passengers. This aircraft has also been upgraded with an iridium satellite phone system for phone conversations mid-flight.

With a cruising speed of 500 miles an hour at a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet, the Hawker 800XP is a mid-sized jet that feels like a larger one, offering maximum passenger comfort, extended range and superior reliability. Whatever the destination — from New York or Chicago to Cancun, Mex. — charter customers will enjoy a superb ride aboard this luxury aircraft.

Schubach Aviation adds Gulfstream IV to Fleet

Schubach Aviation, San Diego’s leading air charter service company, has added a Gulfstream IV SP (G-IV SP) private jet to its fleet of luxury aircraft, announced Henry Schubach, president of the firm.

The G-IV SP is one of the world’s most in-demand, large-cabin business jets, earning a reputation for safety, flight performance and reliability. The G-IV SP is powered by twin Rolls-Royce turbofans that provide high thrust output with lower-than-normal noise emission.  The SP stands for special performance, with an increased payload, increased landing weight and increased range over its predecessor, the G-IV.

Boasting a range of 4,220 nautical miles with eight passengers and reserves, and the roomiest cabin in its class, the G-IV SP easily connects San Diego to Honolulu, or New York to Paris, while also providing spacious, comfortable, short-range travel.  With 157 square feet of cargo space, the aircraft can store enough luggage for long stopovers at destinations anywhere at home and abroad.

Accommodating up to 14 passengers and three crewmembers, Schubach Aviation’s G-IV SP is generously appointed with two lavatories, a full galley with an oven and microwave, private lounge with double club seating, and a berthable sleeping configuration for transcontinental or transoceanic travel. This aircraft is equipped with wi-fi internet, an iridium satellite phone & laptop printer, a CD player, two DVD players, and flat-screen monitors for movies at each passenger seat plus air show capabilities.

With a cruising speed of 460 knots or 529 miles an hour at a maximum altitude of 45,000 feet, the G-IV SP aircraft has set numerous records for speed and distance traveled around the world.  Whatever the destination, Schubach Aviation’s charter clients can be assured of getting there safely, comfortably and quickly in this elegant and spacious executive jet.

The newly added G-IV SP joins Schubach Aviation’s existing fleet of 13 aircraft, including two wide-bodied Bombardier Challenger 601s; five Hawkers; a Lear 35; two Citation Jets, and two factory-new CJ3′s.

Schubach Aviation Reaches $7,600 in Year-Long “One Cent Per Mile” Fundraising Campaign for Helen Woodward Animal Center

SAN DIEGO – (October 17, 2011) – Thanks to better-than-projected 2011 sales and the generosity of its clients, Schubach Aviation (www.schubachaviation.com) has so far donated $7,632 to Helen Woodward Animal Center as part of the company’s year-long “One Cent Per Mile” fundraising campaign benefiting orphaned animals, announced Henry Schubach, president of the leading San Diego air charter firm.

Earlier this year, Schubach Aviation pledged a minimum of $8,000 to Helen Woodward Animal Center through this campaign, donating one cent for every mile flown by its fleet of 15 private aircraft through the end of 2011. Based on mileage to date, the company expects to exceed its goal and donate closer to $10,000.

Schubach Aviation also has been giving its customers the opportunity to match the company’s “one cent per mile” donation by contributing to one of three non-profit organizations of their choice, one being Helen Woodward Animal Center.

“We’re very grateful to our customers who have climbed aboard this campaign and helped us support such an important community cause,” said Schubach, whose beloved golden retriever, Bob, greets customers at the office every day. “They know we have a soft spot for dogs, and many of them count on us to fly their own pets with them when they travel.”

In addition to making monetary contributions, Schubach Aviation has promoted Helen Woodward Animal Center’s fundraising events in its full-page print ads, which have featured champion surf dogs Dozer, an English Bulldog, and Nani, a Bernese Mountain Dog, posed inside one of the firm’s Challenger 601 private jets. Of the 80 dogs who competed at the sixth annual Helen Woodward Animal Center Surf Dog Surfathon held September 25th at Dog Beach in Del Mar, Dozer rode in at third place, while Nani fetched second place, just behind first-place- winner Buddy, a Jack Russell Terrier who at age 14 became the first inductee into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame.  Schubach Aviation participated as a sponsor of the event, which raised more than $100,000 for the Center.

In February, a team of nine Schubach Aviation employees and their family members were honored as the top fundraising team at the second annual Helen Woodward Animal Center 5K Puppy Run/Walk held along a scenic, coastal route in Solana Beach. The Schubach Aviation team raised the largest amount by any corporate team. Additionally Schubach Aviation was a prominent participant of the organization’s “Broadway Tails” Spring Fling held in June, sponsoring the main entry martini luge.

“We’ve been grateful to partner with Schubach Aviation this past year, and to have their help in generating attendance at our fundraising events,” said Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center.  “Having this level of participation and commitment speaks to the spirit of San Diego’s corporate community and its willingness to give back.”

Helen Woodward Animal Center is a unique, private, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people. Incorporated in 1972, the Center provides humane care and adoption of orphaned animals, as well as animal-centered educational and therapeutic programs for people. The Center is recognized worldwide as a leader in the animal welfare community.

Schubach Aviation Relocating to Larger Hangar and Office Space at Palomar Airport

Schubach Aviation (www.schubachaviation.com), San Diego’s premier private air charter firm, is relocating July 29th to a spacious new 40,000-square-foot hangar and a larger 5,000-square-foot corporate office suite located at 2026 Palomar Airport, Carlsbad, Calif., announced President and Founder Henry Schubach.

Schubach Aviation’s new headquarters are situated just 100 yards west of its current location. The company outgrew its 30,000-square-foot hangar and 3,000-square-foot office space there. Schubach Aviation has signed a ten-year lease agreement for the new, larger hangar and office space.

According to Schubach, the move was prompted by the company’s addition of more large-sized, luxury aircraft to its fleet, including another Challenger 601 and, most recently, a Gulfstream IV. The new space will accommodate the firm’s present plans to acquire more aircraft, including another Hawker 800XP, in the near future.  The new hangar is completely solar-powered, which will help offset operating costs while being more environmentally friendly.

Schubach Aviation’s move to the new facility reflects the company’s continuing commitment to providing optimum convenience, comfort, luxury, and security to its clients.  Facility amenities include VIP conference rooms, private lounges, a luxurious reception area with full-service concierge, and ample parking.

Schubach Aviation will operate from new offices on the second floor of the facility. The office suite encompasses private offices, a central scheduling area and dedicated pilots’ flight planning area.

“Having outgrown our previous facility of five years sooner than expected, we’re looking forward to having the ability to further upgrade and expand our charter services,” said Schubach. “As we approach our 20-year anniversary of operating in San Diego, we’ll be in a better position to expand our fleet of aircraft, provide a superior level of management services to aircraft owners, and offer our private charter clients an unparalleled level of service.”

According to Schubach, the new facility features a secure, central check-in point and private terminal, through which passengers will be personally escorted to their aircraft. A 24-hour ground crew also will be available for after-hour convenience.

Schubach Aviation Teams Up With Helen Woodward

San Diego Celebrity Surf Dogs Nani and Dozer

As part of a year-long fundraising campaign benefiting orphan animals, Schubach Aviation has pledged to donate one cent for every mile flown during 2011 to Helen Woodward Animal Shelter.

We’ve pledged a minimum of $8,000 to Helen Woodward Animal Shelter through this campaign, but with your help, we can make this amount soar even higher. We’re giving our customers the option of matching the company’s “one cent per mile” donation by contributing to one of three non-profit organizations of their choice: Helen Woodward Animal Shelter, YMCA San Diego County, or USO San Diego.

“At Schubach Aviation, animals are close to our hearts,” said Henry Schubach, president of Schubach Aviation, whose beloved golden retriever, Bob, and black Labrador pal, Brailey, greet customers at the office each day. “This campaign is a way for our company to support animal welfare and other good causes while giving back to the community that has supported us over the past almost 20 years.”

In addition to making monetary contributions, Schubach Aviation will also promote Helen Woodward Animal Center’s fundraising events in its full-page ads, which will feature celebrity surf dogs Dozer and Nani. The masters of Dozer and Nani have graciously allowed the photographs to be used to promote Helen Woodward Animal Center’s “Puppy Love” Run/Walk on Sunday, February 13 from 7 a.m. to 12:00 noon; “Broadway Tails” Spring Fling on Saturday, June 4 from 5:30 p.m. to midnight; Surf Dog Surfathon on Saturday, September 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and Flush Puppy Poker Tournament in October (exact date yet to be determined).

“We’re very excited about Schubach Aviation’s support of the Center in 2011, and look forward to partnering with them to make all of our fundraising events even more successful,” said Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center. “Their support will help us care for a greater number of orphan pets until they go home with their new families.”

Come aboard and help us make this fundraising campaign a success. With your support, every time a flight is booked through Schubach we can help make a positive impact on the lives of homeless animals while contributing to the betterment of North San Diego County — our home base.

Green Skies Ahead For Schubach Aviation

CitCJ3_3BV_intSchubach Aviation, San Diego’s premier on-demand air charter service, is offering a carbon-neutral travel program, giving environmentally conscious passengers the option to fly in an aircraft that supports clean energy. The program balances the impact of energy use by supporting an equivalent amount of wind energy production through the purchase of Green-e Certified® Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). In other words, for every gallon of fuel used by this airplane, the airplanes owner purchases equivalent amounts of RECs.

Passengers who select this factory new Citation CJ3 for their air travel will be participating in the program, which offsets the carbon emissions produced during its flights, ensuring zero-emission wind energy is delivered to the country’s energy mix. The Green-e Certified® RECs are purchased through a renewable energy service provider.

Fortunately, Schubach Aviation’s travelers will not have to forfeit luxury for a greener environment. The CJ3 holds up to seven passengers, and offers a spacious cabin, private lavatory and a fully stocked refreshment center. This is the second year in a row that the jet’s owner has decided to participate in the program.

Schubach Aviation Forms New Hangar One Avionics Division.

Schubach Aviation, San Diego’s premier on-demand air charter service, has formed a new avionics division, Hangar One Avionics, serving the avionic equipment sales, installation and repair needs of private aircraft owners.

“While Hangar One Avionics services Schubach Aviation managed aircraft, it also provides the same high level of service to local operators and private aircraft owners,” said Hangar One Avionics manager Ken Piland.

A specialized component of the new division includes state-of-the-art services for Airborne Law Enforcement. Through the extensive experience of highly trained staff, Hangar One Avionics is capable of executing complex helicopter and fixed wing avionics completions for regional law enforcement agencies.

With overwhelming demand from aircraft owners wanting to upgrade their cockpits with the newest technology on the marketplace, Hangar One Avionics is equipped to meet the demand. The department’s skilled avionics technicians and design engineers offer exceptional customer service and attention to detail that allow them to fulfill the needs of customers while setting a standard in the industry for others to follow.
