Schubach Aviation’s 20th Anniversary Party
Community business leaders, non-profit organization executives, long-time clients, aircraft owners and other associates gathered recently at Palomar Airport to join with Henry Schubach, president and founder of Schubach Aviation, in celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary.
Co-hosted by Riviera magazine, the event was staged at Schubach Aviation’s 40,000-square-foot hangar, which was transformed into an upscale space complete with an elaborate white bar as the centerpiece, surrounded by modern lounge areas. Approximately 220 guests attended the elegant reception.
“It meant the world to us, and me personally, to have our long-time clients and friends there to commemorate our 20th anniversary milestone,” said Schubach. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without them. Today we’re in a good position to further expand our fleet and range of charter services, and we look forward to serving both old and new clients in the years to come.”
Guests were invited to board several luxury aircraft surrounding the event site, including a Gulfstream IV-SP, Hawker 800XP, and a Citation II. A slick, black Lamborghini, Bentley GTC, Bentley Mulsanne, and a Rolls Royce Ghost were on view, courtesy of Symbolic Motors.
Snake Oil provided specialty cocktails and other beverages. Campine Catering provided elegant tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. Cupcakes Squared was the dessert caterer. EuroBar hosted an espresso bar featuring organic coffee, cappuccino and espresso. Mark Lessman, who regularly entertains at Mille Fleur Restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe, was the featured saxophone jazz musician.
The highlight of the evening was a surprise 12-minute video, featuring interviews of Schubach Aviation’s friends and clients who expressed their congratulations and gratitude to Henry Schubach and his employees for their outstanding service throughout the company’s 20 years. Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center, and Charger football star Quentin Jammer, president of the Jammer Family Foundation, thanked Schubach for his company’s generous monetary and volunteer contributions and its ongoing support of the San Diego community.
Most heartwarming was an account of one client who, with the help of Schubach, was able to travel quickly from the East Coast upon news of his mother’s grave illness so he could be with his mom during her final hours. Another customer relayed how Schubach had enabled him and his team to fly aid into New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and help with the rescue efforts there.
As one client put it, “Congratulations from one old Air Force pilot to another, who I taught to fly,” joked Bill Gershen, CEO/President of Vanguard Industries and a Rancho Santa Fe resident. “All kidding aside, I want to thank you, Henry, for the many years of very safe and efficient travel. I commend you on your 20 years of excellent service.”
Last August, Schubach Aviation moved to its new 45,000-square-foot headquarters at Palomar Airport so that it could accommodate larger aircraft and anticipated growth. Currently sales are 15% higher this year over the same time last year. Its fleet of private aircraft includes a newly added G-IV SP, two wide-bodied Bombardier Challenger 601s, a Hawker 800XP, a Citation II, CJ1 and a factory-new CJ3. The company plans to add two new aircraft within the next month.

Schubach Contributes to Navy Seals Foundation
An Amazing event-fundraiser was held at the Del Mar Country Club on March 24th to benefit the Navy Seals Foundation. The event included a day of golf, a fabulous dinner and a live and silent auction. The mission of the Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation is to support individual and family readiness through an array of programs specifically targeted to assist the Naval Special Warfare community in maintaining a resilient, sustainable, and ready force. The foundation seeks to raise awareness and contribute to the Naval Special Warfare Community for SEALs both deployed, disabled and or retired.
Schubach Aviation attended the event and donated a private jet for a 4 day,-3 night family getaway, in support of our Navy Seals Community.
Schubach Supports Rady Children’s Hospital
The Rancho Santa Fe Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary hosted its 16th annual fundraising gala at the Grand Del Mar on March 3rd. Schubach Aviation donated transportation via private jet (valued over $6500.00) in conjunction with The Silverleaf Golf Club, an exclusive member’s only club in Scottsdale, AZ.
Jr. Seau’s 2oth Anniversary Celebrity Golf Classic
The Junior Seau Foundation celebrated its 20th Anniversary Celebrity Golf Classic from March 10-12 this year. The 3 day event kicked off with the Legends Party at Seau’s The Restaurant which was just the beginning of a great weekend of fun in the sun and fundraising. The panel of Hall of Famer’s including Marcus Allen, Dermontti Dawson, Marshall Faulk and Warren Moon helped make the Legends Dinner so memorable. The golf classic was played on a perfect San Diego day at the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa. Most importantly the money raised will continue to allow the Foundation to host the Shop With A Jock®, Thanksgiving at Seau’s The Restaurant and underwrite the Scholars of Excellence programs. Additional money is distributed in the form of grants to non-profit agencies supporting our youth throughout San Diego County.
Sixth Annual Padres Team Dinner Night
As a representative of Schubach Aviation, I was happy to attend the sixth annual Padres Team Dinner Night hosted recently by Bud and Nan Black at Acqua Al 2, one of the Gaslamp’s hottest restaurants. Emcees Mark Grant and Jenny Cavnar were joined by the entire 2011 Padres baseball team in taking over the restaurant, posing as waiters, bartenders and chefs. The evening’s festivities included live entertainment, raffle prize opportunities, a live auction, and a fabulous Italian meal. The event raised funds for Rady Children’s Hospital and UCSD, and helped bring awareness for the need to fight MRSA and other life-threatening diseases. We look forward to participating again next year!
Schubach Sponsors “Jammin Under the Stars” Fundraising Event
The second annual fundraising event, “Jammin Under the Stars” was held at the private estate of Sean and Maria Barry in Rancho Santa Fe on Friday, July 15, 2011, to benefit the Jammer Family Foundation. The event was organized by San Diego Charger Quentin Jammer and his wife Alicia, along with myself, Maria Barry, Rob Powell, Ginger Levy and Jennifer Enright. Pamplemousse Grille provided catering and the evening’s festivities included silent and live auctions, opportunity drawings, entertainment and dancing. Guests mingled with members of the San Diego Chargers football team including Darren Sproles, Antoine Cason, Mike Tolbert, Larry English, Darren Bennett (retired) and Darren Carrington (retired and event Emcee) in support of programs that empower the students of San Pasqual Academy, the first national residential-education campus for foster teens. Event sponsors included: Le Dimora; Symbolic Motors; Mutual of Omaha; Schubach Aviation; Extreme Fun; Riviera Magazine; Milton’s Delicatessen; Jimmy Choo; Hudson Printing; Coast Highway Photography and Delicias.
The event proceeds will directly impact San Pasqual Academy through the Jammer Family Foundation. According to Alicia Jammer, “We’re very pleased that we met our fundraising goal; we had a record number of guests attend in support of our mission and the live auction was particularly competitive this year. We’re especially grateful to our event sponsors and to Quentin’s teammates for their participation.” The Jammers were introduced to the foster teens of San Pasqual Academy several years ago and have been instrumental in providing academic scholarships, Thanksgiving and Christmas programs, group outings to Charger games and one-on-one mentoring in addition to the construction of a home football field.
Schubach Sponsors Helen Woodward Animal Center Spring Fling
Schubach Aviation was glad to help sponsor Helen Woodward Animal Center’s 23rd annual Spring Fling. During this year’s black tie gala, themed “Broadway Tails”, guests mingled, sampled tasty bites from some of the area’s top local restaurants, sipped their favorite beverages, and danced to live musical entertainment provided by Wayne Foster. A silent auction, live auction and opportunity drawings were part of the evening’s festivities. Each year, Helen Woodward’s Spring Fling raises funds to help support the humane care and adoption of orphan animals, as well as animal-centered educational and therapeutic programs for people.

Schubach Sponsors AFE’s 6th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic
Schubach Aviation contributed in both the live auction, donating a “Palm Desert Golf Experience” flight with a professional athlete, as well as sponsoring a hole at Maderas Golf Club, in support of AFE, Athletes For Education, to help make a difference in the lives of many. “We are proud to participate in such a worthy cause to help the youth here in San Diego” quoted Henry Schubach.
Many professional athletes from all over the country came out to participate with AFE in their mission to support the youth in San Diego. AFE has literally impacted thousands of youth and encourages them to reach life goals by developing self-confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, and discipline. Their mentorship programs and events support and reward at-risk youth from disadvantaged areas, with the goal of establishing lasting life skills that act as an investment in our youth and community. “We help our youth help themselves”, a quote from the late Steven Haynes, Founder and President of Athletes for Education, www.AFEfoundation.org.
The Fundraiser and taste of AFE party was held at Humphrey’s by the Bay on June 1st, and the Celebrity Golf Classic at Maderas Golf Club on Thurs. June 2nd.

Schubach Aviation Top Fundraising Team at 5K Puppy Run/Walk
SAN DIEGO – (January 13, 2011) – A team of 9 Schubach Aviation employees and their family members were honored as the top fundraising team at the second annual Helen Woodward Animal Center 5K Puppy Run/Walk held February 13 along a scenic, coastal route in Solana Beach, Calif. The Schubach Aviation team raised the largest amount by any corporate team.
This year’s Helen Woodward Animal Center 5K Puppy Run/Walk had more than 600 participants and raised over $40,000. “Supporting animal welfare in our community is very much a part of our company’s culture, so it was great for our employees to be able to ‘give back’ in a fun and meaningful way,” said Henry Schubach, president of Schubach Aviation. “We’re looking forward to our company’s continued involvement with Helen Woodward Animal Center, and participating in their future events.”
As part of a year-long fundraising campaign benefiting orphaned animals, Schubach Aviation, San Diego’s premier air charter company, earlier this year pledged to donate to Helen Woodward Animal Center one cent for every mile flown by its fleet of 20 private aircraft during 2011. While the company has pledged a minimum of $8,000, it hopes to raise closer to $12,000, based on current mileage trends. Schubach Aviation also is giving its customers the option to match the company’s “one cent per mile” donation by contributing to one of three non-profit organizations of their choice, Helen Woodward Animal Center being one of them.
“We’re grateful to the many individuals and our corporate sponsors, like Schubach Aviation, who stepped up to make the 5K Puppy Run/Walk a success,” said Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center. “Participation was almost four times greater this year than last, which speaks to San Diego’s community spirit and its dedication to helping rescued and relinquished animals.”
The Schubach Aviation 5k Team.
